Pressure ulcers

Abstract

Pressure ulcers have various causes and are difficult and costly to treat. Therefore, it is important to prevent them before they develop. The incidence of pressure ulcers varies by nursing facility and nursing unit. Although nurses are primarily responsible for prevention and treatment, the process requires teamwork. Comprehensive and ongoing risk assessment, appropriate skin care, nutrition, repositioning, heel protection, use of overlays and education are critical to prevention, treatment, and care. © 2023 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
