Exploring The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on The BIST Tourism Index Businesses Through Employing Critical-Based COPRAS and PROMETHEE Methods

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of COVID-19 on the financial performances of BIST tourism index enterprises from 2018 to 2021 utilising Critical-Based COPRAS and PROMETHEE Methods. This study used these methods because, to our knowledge, no study in Turkiye utilises the PROMETHEE approach and the suitability of COPRAS in performance measurement. In this study, the variables' statistical significance was explored using the Wilcoxon Signed rank test, and the rankings of the enterprises affected by the pandemic were tested using the Spearman Correlation method. As a result of the research, performance rankings were established. According to COPRAS, the highest-performing enterprises were PKENT, MAALT, and ULAS, while the lowest-performing enterprises were MARTI and TEKTU. It is understood from the PROMETHEE results that MAALT was the enterprise with the best performance, while MARTI and TEKTU were the two with the lowest performance.
