AN INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF CHANGES IN THE CEYHAN RIVER ON THE PROPERTY: THE CASE OF OSMANIYE

Abstract

Significant changes have occurred in the riverbed due to the increase in sand quarry licenses on the Ceyhan river and the new dams on the river. Changes in the riverbed have also affected property use. Initiatives will be taken to implement the research results from the Directorate of Cadastre, National Real Estate Directorate and State Hydraulic Works. In this study, the bed change within the boundaries of the central district of the Osmaniye Ceyhan River was obtained by digitising old bed maps and the current orthophoto. The grievances of citizens who have lost their property will be eliminated, the treasury lands resulting from the bed change will be recorded, and the public interest will be allocated. As a result of this study of the change in the riverbed, the width of riverbed navigation and the number of locals has increased a lot. In addition, especially in Sakarcaltk village, the bed slipped south, under the influence of a sand quarry and the registered parcel remained in the riverbed.
