This study, conducted at Teknobiltar R&D's research station during the 2018-2019 wheat growing season, investigates the relationship between NDVI, SPAD, and CM-1000 chlorophyll meter readings at various developmental stages of bread wheat. A randomized complete block design with three replications was utilized. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), leaf chlorophyll content (SPAD reading), and canopy chlorophyll content (CM1000) measurements were taken at heading, anthesis, and maturity. NDVI was assessed with the handheld Greenseeker, SPAD with the SPAD-502 meter and vegetation chlorophyll content with the CM-1000. The genotype of Lucilla consistently exhibited higher SPAD and CM-1000 values, indicating superior photosynthetic capacity. Lucilla also showed consistently high NDVI, SPAD, and CM1000 values, suggesting its potential for high-quality production. Strong positive correlations were found between measurements of the same parameter at different growth stages, demonstrating consistency and reliability for crop health monitoring. The results indicate significant variation among genotypes for these parameters, which were also correlated with grain yield and quality traits such as protein content, wet gluten, and test weight. The findings underscore the importance of selecting genotypes with favorable physiological traits for wheat breeding programs.
